GRACE MISSION CHURCH SOCORRO, ORIENTAL MINDORO, INC.

It was in the year 1968 that God called Dr. Romeo C. Santiago from Malolos Bulacan to go to on a mission to the island province of Oriental Mindoro with just medical clinician's bag, P300 and a heart of obedience. He opened a medical clinic named Grace Mission Clinic in a locality called Maluanluan in the town of Pola. As he looked at and treated patients, he also found time to share the Word of God to them. the number of patients he saw and treated grew in number as well as the people who received Jesus Christ as their saviour and Lord. They would regularly attend Bible studies in the compound of Grace Mission clinic and in their homes After several years, the work was relocated to Socorro which was the adjacent town of Pola. In 1972, Grace Mission Hospital was opened in Barangay Catiningan along the national highway so that more people could go and be treated and hear the gospel of Jesus Christ at the same time. There were worship services held regularly every sunday in the hospital lobby. The same people who heard and responded to the gospel since the clinic started in Mauanluan, Pola and those who received Jesus as Lord and Savior in the hospital became the members of a local church known as Grace Mission Church. In 1976, Grace Mission College School of Midwifery opened. This further doors for more people, this time - the students, to know God in a personal way. Students who graduated eventually went back to their respective towns here in oriental mindoro bearing the Word of God. There was an assistance from good-hearted supporters from abroad like Christian Aid Mission which was extended to Grace Mission Church in the year 1984. This resulted to more families being reached, who heard and was taught the Word of God. The ministries included an orphanage and Grace Children Center. Because of this, the membership of Grace Mission Church grew even larger prompting the construction of their very own building. This was when more members were trained to do Great Commission if Jesus Christ to go and spread the gospel. There were many members who became workers, pastors and missionaries. Even with trials and challenges including natural calamities that permanently damaged the church building, the members of the church grew even stronger in their faith. In the year 1992-1993, a new church building that can accommodate hundreds of people was contructed. It is a present and enduring embodiment of the goodness and faithfulness of God and His ever-spreading kingdom here on Earth. Grace Mission Church has been through a lot of hardships but as emerged victorious and is continuing to impact the world for Christ as it has grown to have at least 12 local churches in Oriental Mindoro. Leadershp-wise, God has raised up pastors and leaders for the whole of the congregation still under the overseeing work of their earthly father in faith Dr. Santiago.
