History:
The church came into its existence last December 19, 1984 located at Purok Ipil-Ipil, Poblacion, Titay, Zamboanga del Sur. Pastor Martha Toribio, the pioneering pastor of the church got married to a foreign missionary and migrated to U. S. A.. She was replaced by Pastor Rene F. Bicera as the resident Pastor in the year 1992 of February. The church was governed by a head pastor and three associate pastors with three families as the members. At the time, the church was not yet been registered in the S.E.C. for what we have in mind is not on registering the church but on implementation of what is best for the common good of every member, to do the great commission mandated by God and to be of service in terms of ministries and church programs. In 1984, the church building is primarily made of cogon hat, long bamboo bench round timber and the wall is made up of “Amakan” . In 1993, the church was temporarily transferred to a nearby garage owned by the owner. In 1994, Pastor Rene F. Bicera initiated the construction of the new church building with the help of the members. The church whole-heartedly supported the program by way of giving money, time and effort just to materialize the project. In 1996, we transferred our church services in our new semi-concrete building. In the year 2002, the church members were able to purchase musical instruments, plastic chairs and the church lot area, Sunday School Services, Children Sunday Services and Youth/Children Camps are the only ministries and services that the church caters most. As the church grows spiritually, emotionally an biologically the church finds itself to have an identity as we go beyond our extended services in the community. Thus, the church finally registered to S. E. C. last September 3, 2004 with the S. E . C. Registration No. 200429329. As the years have passed, the church were now able to have seven daughter churches, one-cell group, eight Host Pastors (Outreach Pastors). five Associate Pastors tied-up with visually impaired Children Ministry, Sunday School Service, Children Sunday Service, Youth Children Camp, Feeding Ministry Moral Values (Basketball League), Cottage Bible Studies and Pastors Aid Ministry. The church is an indigenous church which operates without foreign affiliation or financial assistance. The CJKFI is established as a church, patterned after the New Testament as it is being emphasized in Matthew 16:18 that “Christ build His Church and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it” It is stated in the Bible that the church is the body of Christ, and as the body, we acknowledged Jesus Christ as the head, our head and king. Hence, the church is named “CHURCH OF JESUS THE KING FELLOWSHIP (CJKF), INCORPORATED”.
