History:
In an omnipresent shade of tyranny, freedom was the sweetest word for the Filipino people during the Spanish regime in the Philippine Archipelago. For a cause noble for freedom-loving people, Msgr. Gregorio Labayan- Aglipay was a divine prophecy himself being the emancipator of religious freedom and as a reformer of the Roman Catholicism to Filipino Catholicism. The birth of democracy and the Republic of the Philippines being an independent state had long been part of God's plan so as the religious freedom of every Juan Dela Cruz. The I.F.I or better known as the Philippines Independent Church endure the years by the aspiration of its episcopates and clergies, and its lay believers to exist as one church to manifest and preach the true and omnipotent God-the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, as revealed in the Holy Scriptures whose kingdom shall have no end. Its other objective is to maintain the freedom of religious profession and worship and to establish and equally cooperative relationship with the state in the pursuit of maintaining peace, justice and freedom which are the fruits from the patriotism or our Filipino Forefathers. It is in this context that the IGLESIA CATOLICA Y APOSTOLICA DE LOS FILIPINOS has emerged with Msgr. Anthony Basa delos Santos as the Head Bishop embracing the horizon Bishop Aglipay envisioned.ICAf group does not consider themselves as as new church but a religious sector that continually upholds the rich traditions of the Filipino Catholic Church. With Bishop Anthony as the Head Bishop, the I.C.A.F. is striving to attain its mission and vision to be First Class Filipinistas not only by name but by heart.
