The Soka Gakkai International of the Philippines, Inc.

Our organization, the Soka Gakkai International of the Philippines, is a constituent of the Soka Gakkai International (SGI), a lay Buddhist movement linking more than 12 million people around the world dedicated to a common vision of a better world through the empowerment of the individual and the promotion of peace, culture and education centered on respect for the dignity of life. SGI members uphold the humanistic philosophy of Nichiren Buddhism in 192 countries and territories around the world. SGI does not have priests and temples, but rather lay leaders and community centers. Daily practice is carried out at home and discussion meetings are usually held on a local level in people's houses. SGI members live and work in society and integrate their practice into the daily routine of their lives. The designated solemnizing officers are appointed by the General Director. Being a lay organization, an ordination is therefore not conducted.
